Bored of your usual side dishes? Here is a classic french side dish perfect for summer days when you don't want to spend your day in the kitchen.

It isn't has easy as basic steamed vegetables but it's still easy. It only requires little cutting skills, you'll have to cut all the vegetables in equal slices in order for them to cook evenly.

Here I give you the recipe for a summery tian but you can make it in autumn or even in winter with other seasonal vegetables, I'll try to post an other recipe of tian in an other season.

For this summery tian, I advice you to pick vegetables with different colors ( it'll be more appetizing) but of the same size ( it'll be easier when placing the slices in the dish).

Ingredients

4 zucchinis ( you can chose some of different colors)

2 eggplants

5 tomatoes

2 red onions

Balsamic vinegar

Salt and pepper

Thyme

Preheat the oven at 150C or 300F

Wash all the vegetables

Finely chop the onions.

Heat a teaspoon of oil in a pan. Cook the onions until they are translucent. Then add a tablespoon of balsamic vinegar.

Cut every vegetables it to 5mm slices.

On the bottom of a large dish which goes in the oven, spread the cooked onions. A rectangular dish is the best of tian because it’s convenient when you place the slices of vegetables.

Place the slices of vegetables in the following order: eggplant, tomato, zucchini. Repeat until your dish is full.

Season with salt and pepper.

Sprinkle some thyme.

Place in the oven for 40 minutes.

Serve it hot as a side dish for any kind of meat.
