This week end I felt like eating some Middle Eastern food. At first I thought I would chop some vegetables, open a bag of crackers and make some hummus and other dips. This did not happen as you are assuming because I am posting a recipe of lamb meatballs. You are completely right; in fact when I woke up this morning I was motivated to make something a little more elaborated. Hence I made those super delicious lamb meatballs with I paired with zucchinis seasoned with salt pepper and CINNAMON. Yes cinnamon and you will see it makes the difference.

Ingredients fot the meatballs

500g ground lamb meat

75g pine nuts

1 garlic clove

½ bunch mint

½ bunch parsley

1 tsp salt

1 tsp ground cinnamon

1 tsp ground cumin

1 tsp chili flakes

2 tbsp lemon juice

Ingredients for the side

7 zucchinis

2 tbsp apple cider vinegar

1 red onion

1 tsp ground cinnamon

Salt and pepper

Olive oil

Some pita breads to serve

Start by grilling the pine nuts in an oil free pan.

Transfer the pine nuts in a blender.

Add in garlic, mint, parsley, salt, ground cinnamon, ground cumin, chili flakes, lemon juice and salt.

Blend everything until a thick paste form.

Mix this paste with the ground lamb meat.

With your hands, form little meatballs.

Place them on a baking tray.

Allow the meatballs to rest for at least 30 minutes and up to an hour and a half.

Meanwhile, preheat your oven at 200°C.

Finely dice the red onion.

Wash and peel the zucchinis.

Cut them in slices.

Heat some olive oil in a pan.

Sauté the onion for 2 minutes before adding the zucchinis along with some salt and pepper.

Cook for 5 minutes on high heat then turn it down to medium low.

Add vinegar and ground cinnamon before covering with a lid and cooking for 10 to 15 minutes.

Put the pita breads on baking tray and place it in the oven.

Heat a pan on high heat, grill the meatballs.

Once the meatballs grilled, place them back on the baking tray and transfer it to the oven.

Bake for 5 minutes or until the meatballs are cooked through.

Once the cooking time is over, serve the meatballs with the zucchinis and pita breads.
